Keith Griffin: GranuFlo is made by a company called Fresenius. GranuFlo is given to people when they’re on dialysis. When someone goes on dialysis the pH level in their blood needs to be monitored and treated and so dialysis centers will give people drugs, one of them being GranuFlo. So it’s supposed to go into the bloodstream and regulate the pH level, make sure that the blood’s not too acidic or too alkaline.

Well, it came out recently that GranuFlo contains an excess amount of acetate, which means that it brings the pH level on the blood very low. And what happens when someone’s pH level drops like that is that they can start having seizures, a heart attack, and a condition called sudden cardiac death. I think the best evidence of that is straight from the manufacturer. They issued this memo detailing their own study, showing that at their own centers almost 1,000 people had suffered from cardiac disease or issue during 2010 while on dialysis, using GranuFlo. They were concerned enough to tell their own company. It would have been nice had they told everyone else.
