[GRAPHIC: Super Lawyers, Ariel Solomon rated by Super Lawyers, Attorney Ariel Solomon discusses what it takes to be a successful attorney.]

Ariel Solomon: I measure success by the success of my clients. I don’t consider myself to have reached a good outcome unless my clients get a good outcome, and unless they get a cost-effective and expedient outcome.

So when I represent federal employees it’s in front of a few different forums, and there are forums that are very specific to federal employees – one is for example the Merit Systems Protection Board, also known as the MSPB. Federal employees have a property interest in their job, so they’re afforded a host of protections and procedural due process that they’re entitled to in order to aggressively challenge any adverse action that the federal government actually brings against an employee.

I also represent clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which has exclusive jurisdiction to hear complaints alleging discrimination. Sometimes the two have competing interests and oftentimes that creates a challenge and makes for very interesting litigation.
