[GRAPHIC: Ask Super Lawyers. If I am receiving workers comp do I need an attorney in Pennsylvania? Attorney Mitchell Dugan responds.]

Mitchell Dugan: If somebody's receiving workers' compensation benefits, they should contact an attorney even though they're receiving workers' compensation benefits. There are things that the insurance company can do to stop their checks and stop paying their medical bills. The workers' compensation insurance carrier can send out notices. Oftentimes, these letters, these notifications have significant legal meaning which will affect the amount of their compensation, which will affect whether they will continue to receive their weekly checks, which will affect whether or not the workers' comp insurance carrier will continue to pay their medical bills. If somebody gets a notification in the mail, either from the State of Pennsylvania, their employer, or the workers' compensation insurance carrier, they should contact an attorney, contact us right away.
